Mitchell and Cavaliers advance, beat Lakers in LA, 8th straight win for Cleveland
The Cavaliers continued their frantic start and, led by Mitchell-Garland, defeated LA 114-100 and punished every mistake by the disappointing Lakers. Eighth straight win for the Cavs, the Lakers’ record falls to 2-7
The Cavaliers continue to impress. The Lakers continue to disappoint. The meeting between the two teams in LA confirmed the Cavs’ dire situation and the Lakers’ dire situation, with Cleveland winning 100-114 for their 8th straight win.
Donovan Mitchell with 33 points and Darius Garland with 24 points led the winners, with Jarrett Allen adding 16 points and 11 rebounds.
For the Lakers, LeBron James had 27 points and Russell Westbrook and Anthony Davis each had 19 points, with the latter attempting just 2 shots in the entire second half.
The game started with the Lakers being outplayed 21-9 in the first half and holding a small lead by the end of the first half. In the third period, however, the Cavs were initially able to take the lead 66:71 thanks to an 11-0 run. They then went on a 16-0 run and pulled away 80-94 early in the fourth quarter without ever looking back.
