Evan Fournier, 73 million and 2.7 points, was taken off the rotation for the Knicks
Evan Fournier’s psychology is in vertical decline, and his game and career are in vertical decline when Tom Thibodeau decided to pull him out of the rotation with the New York Knicks.
He signed a four-year contract before the start of the 2021/22 season. Evan Fournier, $73 million guaranteed, had a… nice year last year (14.1 points, 39% on threes, 2.6 rebounds, 2.1 assists per 29.5 minutes in 80 regular season games), but changed this year everything for him in New York . So much so that Tom Thibodeau took him out of the rotation to help the Knicks and salvage his spot on the edge of the bench.
The French shooting guard averaged 15.8 points, 2.9 rebounds, 2.9 assists and a steal per 31.2 minutes in 531 games from fall 2015 to summer 2022. But he just wasn’t himself this year. The highlight was the period from November 2-13, when he averaged 2.7 points (19.4% of total shots), 1.4 rebounds and 1.7 assists per game in seven games had 15.4 minutes playing time.
“With three tries per game, it’s not easy to find a rhythm‘ was his reply to a reporter, and then Thibodeau decided to try something else. Fournier first lost his place in the starting XI and then dropped out of the rotation, so the Knicks are now looking for a way to handle him. Fournier will receive 18.86m in the 2023/24 season, while his fourth and final year of contract is a club option for 19m.
