Kevin Durant: “I play with Sumner, O’Neal, Harris, Claxton, what do you expect from this team?”
In a rather inelegant way, Kevin Durant showed the Brooklyn Nets the reality in an interview after the 153 points his team received from the Kings.
It had been some time since the heavy road loss to the Kings (153-121) when Kevin Durant spoke to Bleacher Report to get out what was inside him, to vent his emotions and show everyone his psychological state . The Nets player who called for Steve Nash to be traded or fired, the same player who called for Kyrie Irving and continues to support him, said different interests. In between, he tried to show in a rather inelegant way that he’s a leader, contrary to what they say about him in the NBA.
“Am I not a leader? What the hell does that mean? A lot of people say that because I didn’t tell Kairi to get vaccinated. Come on! They said I didn’t criticize him for leaving the team, for going out and living his life. I’m not going to tell a grown man what to do and what not to do in his life‘ was Durant’s phrase as he continued: ‘We can share and discuss without others having to listen to what we say like grown men. I am not such a person. I’m not interested in showing my teammates what I do to say, “Well done KD, you’re a leader, you’re the boss.” Others need these. Not me“.
“Check out our top 5. Sumner, O’Neill, Harris, Claxton and I. No disrespect, but what to expect from this group? He expects us to win because I’m out there, he expects us to play well because there’s the guy in the number 7 jersey. I’m having a good time, if I wore a mic longer people would stop asking me if I’m happy or not. Enjoying every moment after the hamstring rupture and the pandemic, I didn’t even know if I would ever play basketball againDurant added in a conversation with reporter Chris Haynes.
