Sandy Aldama continues to make strides forward in his important season sophomore in the nba. As he did during his time at Loyola in the NCAA, the Canaries player showed his continued improvement in his second year at Memphis Grizzlies. Game by game, the power forward is not only earning the right to play, but confirming management in the gamble he made this summer after his injury Jaren Jackson Jr.. Aldama has shown that he is capable of playing as a starter and as a substitute and his appeal is more than remarkable.
In a 117-109 victory over the Philadelphia 76ers on the night of December 2-3, the Las Palmas de Gran Canaria native turned in a flawless performance given his role. Starting as a replacement for Jackson Jr., he kept highly traded opponents such as Georges Niang or proven veterans like Tobias Harris and PJ Tucker. Meanwhile, on offense, he took advantage of his options to fill the designated role.

In the almost 22 minutes he was on the field Sandy Aldama put up good numbers, getting 13 points on 3 of 6 field goals, 5 rebounds, 3 assists and 3 blocks.. The power forward was very aggressive on the ball, attacking from the outside to the inside to force the Sixers to be physical with him. This explains why the canary came on three different occasions in the free throw line, connecting on 5 of his 6 attempts.
The triple is still the thing earring from the former Canterbury Academy (2 from 5 today and 32.9% this season) but is going in the right direction compared to 12.5% last year.
And it is that as the sixth man and replacement for one of the most valuable defensive interiors in the NBA, Santi Aldama exceeds expectations thanks to 9.3 points, 5.7 rebounds and 0.9 blocks per night.
