McGrady for Giannis: “It would be difficult in my time because he doesn’t have a good shot”
Tracy McGrad said he didn’t think John Antitokunbo would be as efficient as he was in the NBA in the 2000s due to his mediocre shooting and tough defense.
Tracy McGrady has added her name to the — endless — list of former players who believe the time he played basketball — whatever it was — was tougher than it is now. And to justify this, he used his “target” Giannis Antetokounbo.
The veteran NBA player spoke to Shaquille O’Neal on a podcast, and when the conversation moved to “Greek Freak,” he stressed that things wouldn’t be the same for the forward — twice regular-season MVP and once Finals MVP . ““I think it would be difficult in my time because there were more players to close spaces near the basket.” McGrady initially said and then added:
“In my time it was difficult to attack because the defense was great. If you couldn’t shoot, it was difficult to score. And John bases his game on going to the basket. “It would then be difficult to be the player he is now.”
