Victory – Warriors claim they pressed the Celtics with Curry and Thompson
With Steph Curry and Klay Thompson averaging 66 points, the Warriors demonstrated their strength to beat the Celtics 123-107 in the two finalists’ first meeting in last year’s NBA Finals.
The Celtics are currently the best team in the NBA. But the Warriors are the NBA champions. That difference—small, but actually…big—was evident in the first meeting of last year’s finalists, when the Warriors defeated the Celtics 123-107 at the Chase Center.
Klay Thompson’s 34 points and Steph Curry’s 32 points led the way for the Warriors, with Jordan Poole – who started with five in Andrew Wiggins’ absence – adding 20 points and Jonathan Cuminga 14 points.
For the Celtics, Jaylen Brown had 31 points but had little help, with Jayson Tatum holding 18 points on shooting on June 21 and Malcolm Brogdon adding 16 points for a Boston who struggled but — for one night — didn’t have enough guns against Golden State, which even reached +20.
