Mourning in the NBA, Paul Silas has died
The NBA and basketball world mourn the passing of Paul Silas, a great figure in the sport as a player and coach.
Paul Silas, a great figure in the NBA both as a player and as a coach, passed away on Sunday (11/12) at the age of 79.
Silas played for the Hawks, Suns, Celtics, Nuggets, Sons from 1964 to 1980 and then worked as an assistant and head coach for the Clippers, Nets, Knicks, Suns, Hornets, Cavaliers and Bobcats.
He was LeBron James’ first coach in Cleveland, while his son is the head coach of the Houston Rockets, which host the Milwaukee Bucks at 2 a.m. tonight.
Silas won three championships, two with the Celtics and one with the Sonics, was a two-time All-Star, two-time All-Defensive Player of the Year, and finished his career with 9.4 points, 9.9 rebounds, and 2.1 assists.
