Amazing from Giannis Antetokounmpo, who with a new career record (55 points) led the Milwaukee Bucks to a home win (123-113) over the Washington Wizards. Legendary appearance of the Greek freak who tore the Proteusians apart.

Two nights ago they were beaten at home but they were without Holiday, Middleton and Antetokounmpo. This time the Bucks had the first two to bow out the Wizards (123-113) before boarding the plane to Toronto where they will face the Raptors tonight (02:30).

The Milwaukee team rose to 24-13 (16-4 home and 8-9 away), with Giannis Antetokounmpo writing Career best with 55 points in his 763rd NBA appearance. The Greek freak sped through the competition in absorbing fashion, charging at Washington’s defenses like a train with busted brakes, making shots, creating shots for those around him and missing the triple-double by… points. That matters little as the three games in a row set the club record for more than 40 points and as the milestone was combined with a win, Giannis is contemplating the next game.

Brook Lopez (21 points, 12 rebounds, 3 assists, 6 blocks in 28 minutes) was terrific, while Bobby Portis notched another double-double (17 points, 13 rebounds) en route to sixth-best. The Bucks didn’t have anyone else in good shape. Jrue Holiday overcame an illness that had plagued him for several days but played 19 minutes to make two shots and the Bucks are hoping Khris Middleton, who is playing his ninth straight game with a right-hand complaint, will come back as soon as possible page missed.

The Wizards (10-7 home and 7-15 away) fell to 17-22, resulting in Bradley Beal returning to their lineup but leaving at halftime with a hamstring injury. Kuzma and Porzingis combined for 42 points on 17 of 41 shots assisted by substitutes, but Washington exited the Fiserv Forum 1-1 with the East’s top ten in mind to qualify for the Play-In tournament.

The Milwaukee Bucks’ next opponent is the Raptors (12th East, 16-21) in Toronto, just a few hours away, Thursday morning at 2:30 a.m.

Antetokounmpo’s account

The first quarter was…mediocre, with 10 points (4/6 2-points, 2/2 field goals) and determination, but also three turnovers in 8:53. In the second he was magical in the truest sense of the word as while those around him were shooting wild threes, many in really bad conditions, he finished near the basket to write 24/6/3 at half-time.

In the third third he did not hit the brakes, he loves third thirds, in the fourth (19 points) when everyone started to bow, he also took many phases, he caught the Penindara with a goal foul by Mike Budenholzer, who won with a challenge, immediately set a new career record and then wowed the audience at the Fiserv Forum with an incredible performance that will be remembered for a long time.

The race

With Carter, Allen, Connaughton, Antetokounmpo, Lopez in their starting lineup (and with Holiday on the bench), the Bucks once again came in lukewarm. They shot 2/7 in the first quarter before Giannis turned up the heat on defense and Holliday came on in the 8th minute to help make it 25-21. By the end of the third, Milwaukee had made 13 2-pointers and 13 3-pointers, shooting 30.8% from the field but still holding the lead against Washington, who committed just one foul in 12 minutes.

With Antetokounmpo on the floor and Connaughton trying to find a rhythm, the Bucks went up +10 (44-34) just before halfway into the second period. However, they again lacked consistency in their game, whereupon the Wizards responded with a 2-15 to overtake. At that point, Grayson shot Allen four times in the space of a minute to score once and start his team’s 15-0 run that led to a 61-49 halftime lead.

The Wizards went into the second half without Bradley Beal, who was struggling with a hamstring injury, but the Bucks didn’t capitalize on the opportunity. They found irons in three open threes, keeping the difference small (69-61 in the 28th minute) when Antetokounmpo announced the… in his favorite third and reached 36(!) in the middle of it.

The fourth quarter started with a five (90-85) difference before Kuzma and Gafford narrowed it down to two (95-93) and essentially allowed both teams to start again. Antetokounmpo hit his third straight 40-pointer early in the third, Connaughton hit his third 3-pointer to make it 104-95 and Giannis’ 3-pointer at 3:27 before setting a new career high with a new goal foul from apotheosis the public.
