An angry Smart was sent off and Matsula stepped in to calm him down
The umpires didn’t take well to Marcus Smart’s protests and ejected him from the Celtics-Thunder game, a decision that infuriated the 28-year-old guard even more.
The Boston Celtics suffered a heavy loss to the Thunder, conceding 150 points, and frustration was widespread, as Marcus Smart expressed quite eloquently.
The 2022 NBA Defensive Player of the Year was kicked out late in the third period when he began protesting loudly to the umpires after they decided to call him a foul rather than an attempted shot on a dunk he made towards of the Oklahoma basket.
“You are terrible” Smart appeared to yell at the umpires after his ejection, with Celtics coach Joe Mazzula stepping in to restrain his player and lead him to the dressing room.
