Jayson Tatum was shotless (8/22 shooting) but finished with a triple-double (14/29/10) and the Boston Celtics defeated the Dallas Mavericks.

Luka Doncic was hitless (7/16 2-pointers, 0/6 3-pointers), the Dallas Mavericks finished 7/32 from 3-pointers and just like that, the Boston Celtics (124-95) cruised through American Airlines Center in the early hours of Friday, January 6th.

The guests got the upper hand early on, noticeably limited the emergence of “Luka Magic” (3 assists) and got the job done much easier than expected. Jayson Tatum’s triple-double (29 points, 14 rebounds, 10 assists) stood out more than anything among the winners, who still had five players in double figures but also had 29 assists to 11 turnovers.

They somehow avoided a win against Boston (12-7 on the road this year) and stayed a win and a half ahead of the Milwaukee Bucks and Brooklyn Nets in the East. And the Dallas Mavericks? They stayed in 4th place in the west and still had enough margin to think they could squeeze in between the Denver Nuggets and the Memphis Grizzlies.
