The Referees Association apologizes for LeBron’s no-call: ‘We’re hurting, we’re going to have sleepless nights’
The Association of Referees publicly apologized via Twitter for the no-call to LeBron James, which had cost the Lakers a defeat against the Celtics, and stated, among other things, that this phase will continue to burden the referees for a long time.
The referee’s no-call to Jayson Tatum’s flagrant foul on LeBron James at the end of the 4th period in the Celtics’ overtime win over the Lakers (125-121) wreaked havoc in the NBA and beyond.
Anthony Davis spoke of … m@lkies and theft, Patrick Beverley went to the referees with a camera during the game to protest, the referees admitted their mistake after the game. A day later, the Referees’ Association’s apology came through its official Twitter account, in a move that has never happened before, even if there have been similar…worse whistles than the admission of seven (!) Referee error in a match between the Lakers and the Mavericks.
In detail it says in the post of referees:
“Like everyone, a referee makes mistakes. We did one at the end of yesterday’s race and it’s giving us a tummy ache. This phase will weigh us down and give us sleepless nights as we strive to be the best referees we can be.”
