The reason the Miami Heat is choking before the close of trade
The Miami Heat are poised to act to cover Kyle Lowry’s inability to switch the ace. The Brooklyn Nets want one of Hiro, Butler, Adebayo to give to Kyrie Irving.
With only a few 24 hours to go until the close (February 9 at 23:00 Greece) and the Heat appear to be one of the organizations set to move aggressively to strengthen through trades.
The team sits sixth in the Eastern Conference with a 29-24 record, with the Knicks and Hawks chasing them for a direct playoff spot, but Kyle Lowry’s poor image combined with his reported knee problem has them terrified of Erik Spoelstra and Pat Riley who ponders everything.
So in his last 14 games, as of 12/30, Lowry has 6.9 points, shoots 25.8% from three, collects 3.4 rebounds, gives 3.7 assists and commits 1.3 fouls per 27.6 minutes. He’s heading towards 37 and the final phase of his career, but the Heat can’t afford to waste time and will be looking to find a quality guard right away.
Kyrie Irving is of course of interest to the organization but the Nets are said to have requested one from Jimmy Butler, Tyler Hero, Bam Adebayo so there is no basis for discussion between the two teams at this time.
At the same time, Spoelstra ranks injured shooting guard Duncan Robinson, who finished 500 last year with 11 points and 37% from 3-point range, with his contract up to that of Kyle Lowry for a trade that would send Russell Westbrook from the Lakers in Miami to keep everyone happy.
