Kyrie Irving got… a bonus from the Brooklyn Nets for the trade
The trade that sent Kyrie Irving to the Dallas Mavericks is about to close. What’s even more interesting is that the contract requires the Brooklyn Nets to pay the 31-year-old point guard a bonus.
A few small details remain to complete the trade that sent Kyrie Irving to the Dallas Mavericks, with Adrian Wojnarowski explaining that the delay observed has an explanation: Brooklyn’s attempt to get another team (check out the Toronto Raptors) on the trade block , to come something else.
Beyond the obvious, however, there’s something more to Kyrie Irving’s (employee) relationship with the Brooklyn Nets. Something that got lost amidst the noise caused by the news of the departure of Barclays Cener. What is that? The bonus the Brooklyn Nets must give the 31-year-old point guard in exchange for the move. This is because the four-year contract he signed in 2019 included the 15% trade kicker, which is $1,982,507.
Somehow, Kyrie Irving will benefit (even more) from the changing work environment.
