The Knicks acquired Josh Hart from the Blazers

Big move by the Knicks, who traded Josh Hart from the Blazers for three non-rotation players and a protected 2023 NBA draft pick.

The Knicks made a move out of substance, not sensationalism. The New Yorkers moved quietly, acquiring Josh Hart from the Blazers, sending Cam Reddys, Ryan Arcindiacono and Svi Mykhailiuk to Portland, as well as a protected draft pick for this year’s NBA draft.

With the acquisition of Hart, the Knicks added something to their machine they’ve been missing since the start of the season: A 3-and-D perimeter player who can play defense, make his three-pointers and — most importantly — help in the area rebounds. And all while giving up three players who weren’t in the rotation. This season, Hart is averaging 9.5 points, 8.2 rebounds, 3.9 assists and 1.1 steals in 33 minutes of play.

For their part, the Blazers have lost their shooting guard and are the last – until next – team hoping to “unleash” Cam Redis’ talent in hopes of earning this year’s Knicks pick in the NBA draft as a bonus .
