Concern for Brown at Celtics, out indefinitely with fractured face
Bad news for the Celtics after Jaylen Brown suffered a fractured face after being elbowed by Jayson Tatum and will be sidelined indefinitely.
The term “Pyrrhic victory” is apt for the Celtics, who defeated the Sixers (106-99) but lost Jaylen Brown through injury during the game.
The team’s star was injured at an unexpected stage in the second half when he was elbowed in the face on a rebound by – his teammate – Jason Tatum and immediately went to the dressing room.
The initial assessment of the injury is a break, with US reports suggesting Brown will be sidelined indefinitely.
As it turns out, Brown’s absence comes as a blow to the Celtics as he is the team’s second-best scorer behind Tatum. This season, Brown is averaging 26.5 points (career-high), 7 rebounds (career-high), 3.2 assists, 1.1 steals, and 3 turnovers in 36 minutes.
