Doncic and Irving ran out of crowns in Sacramento
Despite the coexistence of Doncic and Irving on the floor, the Kings persevered and defeated the Mavericks 133-128 in overtime to retain third place in the West.
The much-touted pairing of Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving on the Mavericks roster didn’t fare well on their first test. Though the two had 56 points, 16 rebounds and 12 assists combined, the Kings prevailed 113-128 after five minutes of overtime, knocking the Mavericks to the canvas.
Well done, of course, to DeAaron Fox’s 36 points, 26 of which came in the fourth quarter and overtime. In fact, it was the Kings regional who finished the game with 6/6 shots in the last 18 seconds, while Domantas Sabonis hit his 44th double-double of the season.
