The Warriors eventually completed the acquisition of Gary Payton from the Blazers – including 3 other players in a quadruple deal with the Hawks and Pistons – with Portland still under investigation and threats of punishment.

It took several days, but the Warriors finally agreed to continue the deal with the Blazers’ Gary Payton, who was initially “stuck” because the dynamic guard failed a medical.

Golden State had filed a complaint against the Blazers, accusing Portland of withholding information about Payton’s medical condition, particularly the extent of his abdominal injury, as he is ready to be sidelined for up to three months.

It has been revealed that the son of the legendary Gary Payton has had injections in the area to help overcome the discomfort after summer surgery that saw him miss the first 35 games of the season. If the Warriors’ complaint is proven, the Blazers will be asked to face the consequences. What does that mean; How open is the possibility of them paying a fine or losing future draft picks.

Either way, with the Warriors finally giving the green light to signing Peyton, it means everyone involved in the quadruple trade that took place at the close of trading can move to their new teams. The reason for James Wiseman (from Warriors to Pistons), Sadik Bey (from Pistons to Hawks) and Kevin Knox (from Hawks to Blazers). Everything else will be found by the NBA.
