Tatum becomes the first Celtics player to win All Star Game MVP since Larry Bird 41 years ago
Jayson Tatum managed to put his name in the same sentence as Larry Bird after becoming the first Celtics player to be named All Star Game MVP since Larry Legend 41 years ago.
At the 2023 All-Star Game in Utah, Team Giannis won 184-175 over Team LeBron and Jayson Tatum, thanks to his all-time high of 55 points, the MVP of the game. The Celtics leader was incredible while also breaking a 41-year streak in which no player on the team had managed to win the appropriate award!
The last player to be named All Star Game MVP was Larry Bird in 1982 when Tatum replaced the Boston legend. At the same time, he became the eighth player in history to win the Celtic player award.
The list in detail:
Ed McCauley (1951)
Bill Sharman (1955)
Bob Cousy (1954 and 1957)
Bill Russell (1963)
David Cowens (1973)
Nate Archibald (1981)
