Fears LeBron will be sidelined for several weeks
Concern for the Lakers as LeBron James’ leg injury is proving to be more serious than first thought and there are fears he will be sidelined for several weeks.
LeBron James is suffering and so are the Lakers. According to an ESPN report, The King’s right leg injury in the game against the Mavericks is more serious than first thought and it is feared he will be sidelined for several weeks.
James was injured on a drive to the basket when he suddenly felt pain in his right leg. Despite this, he kept fighting and even scored 11 of his 26 points in the fourth quarter of the game. However, he hobbled off after the game, with the Lakers promptly ruling him out for the team’s next game against the Grizzlies.
At this point, the extent of James’ injury is unknown, other than that he will undergo new tests. But the fact that the camera shows him during his injury telling his teammates that he heard a ‘pop’ in his leg but also that he was injured without touching an opponent makes matters worrying.
With the Lakers star sidelined for a long time, LA will be in a difficult position when it comes to securing a spot in the West’s play-in tournament. The Lakers are currently 12th with a 29-32 record, the Blazers are 11th at 29-31 and the Pelicans are 10th at 30-32.
This season, LeBron is averaging 29.6 points, 8.4 rebounds and 7 assists in 36 minutes of play.
