SUMMARY

The Toronto Raptors lost 103-97 to the Orlando Magic, the worst team in the Eastern Conference, on Thursday.

For the second time in two nights, Toronto was defeated by a team from the bottom of the standings, after the Pistons the day before.

On the eve of a six-race road trip that started in Cleveland, the Raptors missed another opportunity to help their goal in their quest to reach the top-6 in the East. The Cavaliers hold this position, two games ahead of the Raptors. The Ohio team lost on Friday in Philadelphia.

Pascal Shiakam was the best of his team in the defeat with 34 points, while Malaki Flynn had 20.

The Raptors were counting on the return of Thaddeus Young, who lost Thursday night’s game with an unspecified illness other than COVID-19.

The 33-year-old veteran had 2 points, 7 rebounds and 2 assists in 15 minutes of play.

Fred VanVleet lost a fourth consecutive game with a fracture in his right knee.

OG Anunoby was also missing for the sixth consecutive game, having a fracture in his right finger.

All Magic basics (and two reserves) have accumulated at least 10 points.

Cole Anthony had 15 points and 12 rebounds for the Magic, who have won three of their last four games.
