Magic Johnson’s father has passed away
Deeply mourned by Magic Johnson who lost his father whom he called a hero and idol.
Magic Johnson was in deep sorrow after the death of his father. The veteran NBA player took to social media to announce that his beloved father passed away last night (08/03) and bid him farewell with a touching message and several photos they shared.
“I’m really devastated. Last night I lost my biggest supporter, my best friend, my hero, my idol, my father, Erving Johnson Sr. Ever since I was a little kid I wanted to be like my father. My father was the hardest working man I have ever known. He worked two or three jobs to support his family and never apologized.
I appreciate him for teaching me this virtue too, for teaching me the importance of education, the importance of a work ethic, how to respect yourself and others, how to dress, how to be a man, how to have dignity and more. I’ve never had to look far from home to find a role model. He was the first to tell me that if I put in the time and work, I’ll make it to the NBA. It was one of the many times he beat me in singles and they helped me become a better basketball player but also mentally tougher.”
