Barkley to Ja Morad: ‘You need to grow up and stop acting like an idiot’
Charles Barkley sent his own message — via a TV show — and in his own (separate) way to Ja Morad, following the uproar the Memphis Grizzlies ace caused throughout the NBA community.
The NBA is still reeling from Ja Morad’s recent escapades. who showed up at a Denver nightclub with a gun and even showed it live on Instagram. Not just because he did what he did, but because he brought the gun from Tennessee to Colorado and had it on the crew plane, which of course is against league rules.
In addition to the player’s offense and punishment, Morand’s adventure has also engaged several NBA personalities on a human level. So, after Shaquille O’Neal, Charles Barkley also took up the cause, in his own unique way and with – more fatherly – instinct, he sent his message to Morad. The Sixers and Suns legend, now 60, appeared on a TV show alongside Shaquille, Ernie Johnson and Jamal Crawford and urged Morad to “grow up and mature”.
“To see one of the brightest stars in the league involved in three gun incidents is beyond the pale. I hope this kid grows up and starts surrounding himself with better people. I’m starting to understand Adam Silver’s silence (NBA commissioner) The Grizzlies are saying, ‘He’s out and he’s going to be out for at least four games. We’re not going to grab his arm and throw him in.’ “He’s acting like an idiot. It’s not all his fault, it’s also the people around him.” Barkley said, still pulling on the… fork:
“He’s getting a new contract next year, it’s going to be $231 million over five years. You can’t just screw that up! You’re one of the best players in the league, one of the smartest faces, and you can’t act like an idiot. Being famous isn’t easy at all, especially these days with all this social media and cameras… but you have to learn to protect yourself. I’m sorry because I don’t know this boy p @he hurts his team too. If you’re the best player and get kicked out like that, the whole team gets hurt. If you have to have a gun on you all the time, you’re probably going in the wrong places. You man has to be absolutely responsible when carrying a gun and not drawing it, even if it’s just for practice.”
