The Brooklyn Nets beat the Denver Nuggets’ home turf with a fatal Nikola Jokic
Nikola Jokic recorded another impressive triple-double but missed the shot that would have sent the game into overtime. Big double for the Brooklyn Nets.
The Brooklyn Nets continue to impress after the trade deadline and remain in the upper echelons of the East. Zach Vaughn’s team survived Ball Arena (122-120) while the Denver Nuggets suffered just their sixth home loss this season — we’re talking about the NBA’s top home field.
Nikola Jokic’s triple-double (35 points, 20 rebounds, 11 assists) did not reach Denver, the “Joker” fought to the end, but in dead time missed the shot that would send the game into overtime. Jamal Murray’s miss (16 points on 5/19 shooting and 1/2 shooting) proved to be the biggest problem for Mike Malone’s team, while Brooklyn relied on having seven players in double figures.
Michael Bridges’ action (25 points on 7/16 shooting) was outstanding, with Dorian Feeney-Smith breaking from the boundary (15 points on 5/7 three-pointers) and Spencer Dinwiddie providing versatility thanks to 15 points and 6 rebounds and the 16 assists he had.
Somehow the Brooklyn Nets forced the Denver Nuggets to their third straight loss, but that doesn’t really change the facts in the west. Simply because the gap to the Sacramento Kings and the Memphis Grizzlies, who scored, remains five and a half wins.
