The story in three moments
glory with carim
In his third NBA season (the fastest ever for an “expansion” team), Milwaukee captured its first and only title to date.. Was inside 1971second campaign with Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, who began dominating the league at will and became one of the best players of the era. It was a record-setting run for the Bucks, who at the time set records for wins (66) as well as streaks (20). Kareem was the MVP (NBA leader with 31.7 points average). while Oscar Robertson also shone for the first time in the team. There was little Baltimore could do in the Finals, and a 4-0 sweep brought glory to Milwaukee.
at the gates of the second
Milwaukee remained the star player in those early days, and in 1974 he reached the final again. Abdul-Jabbar repeated as MVP championship (third time in five years) and, along with Robertson, led the Bucks to the Finals to meet Boston after beating Los Angeles and Chicago. A streak to remember, with Milwaukee forcing a seventh game after the 6th as a guest in the extra doubleheader. However, the Celtics were relentless at home and went 102-87 to retain the trophy.
the new conquest
After those first great years, Milwaukee wasn’t so lucky. In fact, in the 90’s it barely made it to the Playoffs. That 2000-2001 looked like the start of something special for the Bucks led by George Karl, with Ray Allen, Glenn Robinson and Sam Cassell. like a banner. After finishing second in the Eastern Conference in the regular season, they dropped Orlando and Charlotte on the road before meeting No. 1, Allen Iverson’s Philadelphia 76ers and company. It was a series to remember, which AI itself set in Game 7 with 44 points.
From there, Milwaukee made 10 more playoff appearances and only made it past the First Round in 2019. Giannis Antetokounmpo began to change history until those from Wisconsin, who lost 4-2 in the Eastern Final in 2019 after holding a 2-0 lead, were able to be crowned champions again: they eliminated the Miami Heat, Brooklyn Nets, Atlanta Hawks and Phoenix . Suns on track to lift Larry O’Brien trophy in 2021.
