The Boston Celtics were gearing up for a celebration on a night dedicated to Kevin Garnett, but the Dallas Mavericks broke it all with a Spencer Dingwindi three-pointer in the 9” to take the double (95-92).
In a night of celebration dedicated to Kevin Garnett, the Boston Celtics made it a point. Or, if you prefer, the Dallas Mavericks spoiled the lovely atmosphere. Thanks to a three-pointer from Spencer Dingwidi at 9” at the end, the visitors clinched victory at TD Garden in Boston (95-92), in a thrilling game decided by two great shots and a challenge in the dying seconds by Jason Kidd.
When the hosts had a small lead, first Luka Doncic (at 1’21”) and then Spencer Dingwidi (at 9”) brought the total excitement and with them the Dallas Mavericks to +3 shortly before the end. Ime Udoka called a time-out, Marcus Smart took charge. He missed three times, in a period where the umpires initially gave fouls and three shots, before a challenge from Jason Kidd and the… justification.
The referees reversed the decision for a foul on the three-pointer, went to the Yambol and from there Boston had one last chance from the periphery in Jason Tatum. However, the shot he attempted ended up in the iron and so the victory went to Dallas.
Luka Doncic was the top scorer with 26 points, 8 rebounds and 8 assists, while Spencer Dingwidi offered 18 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Among those honored is Maxi Kleber, although he didn’t score (he had 0/2 shots) after accumulating 14 rebounds and making 3 blocks in 28’49” attendance.
On the other hand, Jason Tatum’s 7/23 shots and Jalen Brown’s 6/16 shots were a big problem for Boston, who finished the game with 33/88 in the kid (37.5%).
