NBA, Brooklyn Nets: NBA fined for Irving entering the locker room
Kairi Irving is barred from entering the Barclays Center dressing room because he is unvaccinated. But he walked in during the game with the New York Knicks, with the result that the NBA fined the Brooklyn Nets $50,000.
The presence of Kyrie Irving on the Barclays Center courts for the game with the New York Knicks caused a great deal of discussion, as he has the right to be on the field (albeit unvaccinated) but not to play.
The Brooklyn Nets guard was visibly comfortable during his time at Barclays Center, to the point where he reached his team’s locker room. But something that is prohibited under New York’s current health protocol. The reason why the dressing rooms are separated from the rest of the stadium? They are considered a “work environment” and are therefore included in areas that are not found unvaccinated, such as hardwood floors.
The bottom line is that the NBA has fined the Brooklyn Nets $50,000 for violating local health protocol.
