The reason the Celtics wore blue and yellow jerseys against the Hawks
April 15 is a memorial day for all of Boston as the Celtics remember what their city went through a decade earlier.
The Celtics had no trouble taking a 1-0 lead against the Hawks in their first-round NBA playoff series, but many questioned the blue and yellow jerseys the Celtics wore during warm-up as they weren’t too matched the team colors.
The reason for the Celtics’ selection was the 10th anniversary of the April 15, 2013 Boston Marathon bombing that killed three people, ages 8, 23 and 29, and injured another 281 people.
“We have a responsibility, not only in sport but also off the pitch. There are areas where we can have a positive impact and this t-shirt symbolizes what this city has been through.” said when questioned about the matter by the team’s coach, Joe Mazzula.
