Embiid extremely questionable for Game 1 with Celtics
Joel Embiid continues to feel discomfort in his right knee, with Doc Rivers being discouraging in his comments, saying it’s extremely doubtful his team’s star will be available for Game 1 of Round 2 against the Celtics.
Joel Embiid stays on and the Sixers are hoping for the best ahead of Game 1 with the Celtics for the second round of the playoffs (Tuesday, 02:30 GMT). For now, however, they don’t have much hope.
“There are no news. They’re obviously looking at him, but he didn’t do anything today. If I were to bet I’d say he’s probably extremely questionable for Game 1, but we’ll see.” said Doc Rivers when asked about it, clearly discouraged.
Embiid injured his right knee in Game 3 of the first round of the playoffs against the Nets. As a result, he did not play in Game 4 (the Sixers won and advanced to the 2nd round with a “sweep”) and has since completed a rehabilitation program in hopes of being available for the series against the Celtics. At the moment, however, he has not yet been able to step onto the floor to train with his teammates.
