Nikola Jokic was named NBA Finals MVP
Nikola Jokic was named NBA Finals MVP thanks to his incredible finals run against the Heat, leading the Nuggets to their first-ever championship.
Nikola Jokic had a legendary season. He was incredible in the playoffs. And he was great in the NBA Finals, too, leading the Nuggets to their first championship ever. Logically, he was named NBA Finals MVP in a historic moment.
The Serbian center averaged 28 points, 16 rebounds and 4 assists in Game 5 of the series and finished the NBA Finals with 30.2 points, 14 rebounds, 7.2 rebounds and 1.4 blocks in 41 minutes of play.
Jokic also made history as he is the lowest-ever draft pick to be named Finals MVP. Notably, he was selected at number 41 in 2014. In doing so, he broke the record set by Dennis Johnson, who was named 1979 NBA Finals MVP with the Seattle Supersonics and was ranked 29th.
