The Serbs are waiting for him, but Nikola Jokic is likely to miss the 2023 World Cup.

He’s the face of the day, he’s the sexiest basketball player alive, now he’s a champion too. Nikola Jokic, who led the Denver Nuggets to their first title in history, has packed his bags to return to Serbia, but while many are taking his participation in the 2023 World Cup for granted, an Athletic reporter explains that the situation is a little different may be.

According to Joe Vardon, Jokic would like to be in his country for a family celebration during the tournament dates (25 August to 10 September). The Serbian Basketball Federation folks are waiting for the Denver Nuggets superstar in the national team’s prep, but since this authoritative journalist has put a question mark on his case, it seems all options are open.

Jokic played basketball for just over 10 months as he started work in the first week of August, attended EuroBasket 2022 and finished his season in mid-June. In the NBA, he has 69 regular-season appearances and another 20 in the playoffs, so the possibility that he might want to take some time off seems reasonable.
