LeBron James’ contract and Brony’s draft

LeBron specifically crafted his most recent contract to enter Free Agency in 2024, aligning with when Brony would enter the NBA. He will have a player option valued at $51.4 million for the 2024-25 season that would allow him to remain with the Lakers. If he declines that option, he will become an unrestricted free agent and can sign with any team he wants.

LeBron stated his strong desire to play with Bronny during the 2022 All-Star Game.

“My senior year I’m going to play it with my son”LeBron told The Athletic. “Wherever Bronny is, I’ll be there. I’d do anything to play with my son for a year. It’s not about the money right now.”

If LeBron is serious about putting money aside, then he could theoretically join any of the 30 teams in the league that land Brony at the veteran’s minimum salary.

Which NBA teams have picks in the 2024 Draft?

The prospect of a lottery pick talent like Bronny and another elite player like LeBron James should make teams think ahead. The other 27 franchises have at least one chance to pick in the first round of the Draft, depending on where their pick ends up.

The teams most likely to have LeBron and Bronny in 2024

Considering the end-of-season projections for these teams, the Oklahoma City Thunder are the most likely to land Bronny. They could easily have three lottery picks and a total of four first-round picks.

The San Antonio Spurs are the other team with multiple chances to take Broney, as they have their own pick and the Raptors if he falls between 7 and 30.

The Hornets, Bulls, Knicks, Mavericks, Pistons, Pacers, Pelicans, Magic, Blazers and Wizards all have a real shot at getting a lottery pick.

Of course, how Bronny — the nation’s No. 22 prospect in the Class of 2023 — plays at USC will go a long way in determining whether he truly becomes a viable first-round prospect.

He joins a USC team that not only features top freshman Isaiah Collier, but also brings back experienced fifth baseman Boogie Ellis, who led the Trojans in scoring last season. This is not a situation where Bronny steps in from day one to emerge as the Trojans’ primary offensive option.

It will be interesting to watch this picture as the year progresses. If LeBron is really serious about playing with his son, then there could be a fierce competition to see who can take Brony in the draft.
