NBA, Williams for Ludberg: “He shoots better than I expected”
Gabriel Ludberg was on the Phoenix Suns bench for the first time and his coach Monty Williams praised the Danish ex-CSKA Moscow player.
The Russian invasion of Ukraine caused many players to leave the Russian teams. One of them was Gabriel Ludberg, who left CSKA Moscow and made the big step into the NBA by signing a contract with the Phoenix Suns.
His new coach Monty Williams praised the Dane in his post-Suns-Warriors game in California, saying he was in a much better shot than expected. Ludberg sat on the team bench but didn’t play, and he himself said he was very happy with his decision to leave Russia.
Analytically what Monty Williams said about Ludberg: “He has a very good body for his position and he shoots much better than I expected. I didn’t know much about him and when I watched him train he remarked that he shoots with great ease. He’s got a solid base and that helps him a lot when he goes to the basket. .
I didn’t have much time to see him in detail in the video, but GM told me the best about him. We wouldn’t have him on our team if we didn’t think he could play. “We are happy to see a Danish player on the team and especially in the NBA.”
For his part, Ludberg couldn’t hide his excitement at the decision to leave Russia: “At the end of the day, my first concern is the safety of my family. That’s why I left Russia because we were afraid of being deported there. That’s why we returned to Denmark.
I’m glad I made this decision. There was a lot of uncertainty and especially when you’re in an environment where you don’t know and don’t know how to handle some things, it’s easy to take the safest route. “Not just for racing, but for my family and the way they go about certain things.”
He also stood by the good climate he found in Phoenix: “They are a very good team with talent and they play as a team. I like the energy and intensity they exude but also the way they manage the game from the bench. They welcomed me very well and were willing to help me with anything I needed.” They train very well and it shows that they have a winning mentality. The coach emphasizes the details and that makes the team special.”
