Vezhenkov will not play with the Kings in the Las Vegas Summer League
Without Sasha Vezhenkov, the Kings will compete in the Las Vegas Summer League (July 7-17) as they didn’t feel it necessary to involve him in that process.
Sasha Vezhenkov will be a rookie in the 2023/24 season. NBA rookies typically play in the Las Vegas Summer League. But the Bulgarian striker is not the… classic rookie. And that’s why he won’t be participating in the tournament with Sacramento.
The news was announced by Luke Lukes, manager of the Kings’ Summer League squad, who explained that both this year’s EuroLeague MVP and Keegan Murray (who scored 41 points against the Heat in the Summer League of California under Vezenkov’s guidance) will not compete in the Las Vegas Summer League.
The fact that Vezhenkov’s 2022/23 season ended three weeks ago may have played a role in the Kings’ decision, who understood that the Bulgarian forward needed rest to be ready for next season.
As a reminder, Vezenkov has been in Sacramento since yesterday (7/5) and had the opportunity to speak with the Kings GM, his coach, Mike Brown, and many others.
