The Knicks pitted Julius Randle until the end of the season
Julius Randle continues to struggle with his quadriceps and Tom Tibondo says the team’s star is likely to be out for the rest of the season.
The Knicks have four games left before the end of the season. Unless something changes dramatically, they’ll have to give it to them sans Julius Randle because the New Yorkers don’t intend to use it.
The news was announced by the team’s coach, Tom Tibondo, who explained after the loss to the Cavaliers (101-119): “He won’t play the Magic tomorrow (today) and most likely for the rest of the season. “He has been suffering from an injury for a long time.”
This year has been disappointing for Randle, who came off the best season of his career (2020/21) in which he was named Most Improved Player and a member of the second-best five. This year, however, his tally dropped to points, rebounds, assists, and steals, averaging 20.1 points, 9.9 rebounds, 5.1 assists, and 0.7 steals with 41.1% on shots (the lowest percentage of his career ) in 35 minutes.
The worst thing about Randle is that his relationship with the Knicks crowd was on the rocks because of a gesture he made to them in a game against the Celtics. They subsequently followed suit in the next home game against Spurs, unsure of the relationship being restored.
Either way, this summer will be an interesting one for both Randle and the Knicks as rumors of the former All-Star forward’s move mount. Until then, everyone has only… patience.
