The Nets fired James Johnson, causing a stir
James Johnson has been able to find the next stage in his career since Thursday night (7/4) when the Nets released him to keep Kessler Edwards in the playoffs.
A few hours before the deadline for releases to give those teams going through the playoffs the right to one last haul, the Nets moved on to a release that made an impression. Brooklyn’s team fired James Johnson, one of the league’s toughest defensive forwards, to convert young Kessler Edwards’ two-way contract to a regular.
Johnson played in 62 regular-season games, had 5.5 points, 3.5 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 19.2 minutes while playing an important role against the likes of Giannis Antetokounbo. He is 35 years old, has been in the league since 2009 and has played for the Bulls, Kings, Grizzlies, Raptors, Heat, Timberwolves, Mavericks, Pelicans and Nets. However, he is not entitled to participate in the playoffs
