Pistons – Bucks 101-131: Milwaukee and Antitokunbo don’t choose an opponent
The Pistons fell to 23-58 (13-28 home and 10-30 away), not falling to last position but unable to advance to 13th place. Cade Cunningham tried but failed, Sadiq Bay found irons all night, Kelly Olinick defied his opponents and scored from the line of fire, but first up was experienced pangit Rodney McGruder, who had (5)/6 two points, 4/5 three points scored , 4/4 shots) in his best performance that year. Detroit went into play with eight points in the first period and 0/14 three points to post an NBA-wide negative record for the season before gaining traction and presenting at least a decent picture in the rest of the game.
In the last game of the season, the Bucks meet the Cavaliers in Cleveland (October 4, 10:30 p.m.).
The race
Serious and determined, the Bucks came into play dynamically, building a ten-point lead (12-2) as early as the third minute, with Giannis recording four points from 4/4s, four rebounds, two assists and a steal. They also went to +15 (19-4) midseason, closing it at +22 (30-8) and holding the hosts at 3/21 shots (0/14 3-pointers) on what seemed like an evening. having a protagonist and a comparsos with no appetite for help. Detroit’s eight points was the worst 12-minute performance in the entire NBA for the season, with Portis having nine rebounds.
When the Pistons suddenly burned, scoring 21 points in four minutes and reducing from 22 to eight, the crowd loved it, but Middleton was there to lead. He managed five runs in the middle of the second period to make it 34:50 and didn’t let the excellent Pope Rodney McGruder put any more pressure on his team until the 38:56 at halftime. The Bucks clearly did the maintenance and management of their force, the 6/20 3-pointers weren’t the performance they wanted, but they certainly weren’t pressured and weren’t given a right to contest.
A quick 12-4 in three minutes early in the second half put the Bucks at +26 (68-42), with Budenholzer seeing exactly what he wanted. Good ball circulation, good defense close to the basket, antetokunbo effective without pressure on the … turbo (goal foul at 44-73 and second goal foul at 44-76) and in the third third to “come out” without the hosts had achieved their own goals. The 68-90 left no room for optimism for the Pistons, it wasn’t too big for Milwaukee to be quiet, it was definitely good enough.
Giannis stayed grounded early in the fourth, after all it had taken him just 23 minutes to make easy baskets for 73-97, clear the rebounds, pass incredibly at the heart of the racquet and the three-pointer, all his repertoire too unfold. He also scored a peat foul for 78-105 in the nine leading up to the final, getting 28 out of 14 tries, nailing epic for the thirty and then leaving after doing his job and more.
