LeBron left the Cavaliers in 2018 because… he was bored
LeBron James manager Rich Paul said “The King” left the Cavaliers for the Lakers in 2018 because he was … bored in Cleveland.
LeBron James didn’t exactly surprise people when he left the Cavaliers for the Lakers in 2018. He was known to want to combine basketball with business, and since he’d already served his purpose in Cleveland — by winning the championship in 2016 — he didn’t have to prove otherwise. However, according to Rich Paul, the reason he made that decision was…boredom.
The manager of “The King” appeared on veteran NBA player Gilbert Arenas’ show and the conversation turned to LeBron’s decision in 2018 to leave the Cavaliers for the Lakers — who weren’t title contenders at the time and were in the playoffs last year had missed the season – he knew it.
“Anyone who knows LeBron knows that he gets bored quickly. Paul first explained, adding: “What I was saying back then was look at the Lakers’ talent. Jesse Bass had done a great job in the NBA draft picking Kuzma, Ingram, Ball and Hart. There was talent, they were just all young.”
Finally, Paul said: “When you leave Cleveland, where are you going? At the time, his decision didn’t seem to make sense. They have the family part that would take place in Los Angeles. On the other hand, who has climbed a mountain and prefers to climb back down and up again? Of course, if you go to LA and win, no matter how many times you’ve been to the finals, you’ve won the championship with three different teams.
From then on there’s the story of an organization in the middle, the players, the fraternity that existed in LA and at the same time the fact that he wanted to climb a mountain again.
