Desmond Bain made seven three-pointers for the 26th and the Memphis Grizzlies overcame a 26-point deficit to beat the Minnesota Timberwolves 104-95 on Thursday night to take a 2-1 lead.

Brandon Clark scored 16 of his 20 points in the second half for Memphis and Ja Morand had a hat-trick with 16 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists.

Tyus Jones hit twice with a three-point shot against his old team and the Grizzlies regained the home advantage. The Grizzlies surprised a team that won Game 1 on the road with 130-117, but suffered a bad defeat with 124-96 in Game 2.

Race 4 is Saturday night in Minneapolis.

D’Angelo Russell had 22 points and eight assists in the third quarter for the Wolves. Carl-Anthony Towns had eight points and five rebounds.

After leading 47-21 at the beginning of the second half, the Wolves prevailed 15-0 in the final 5:45 of the second half by the Grizzlies.

Jones, who grew up in the Twin Cities and was selected by the Timberwolves the same year as the Towns, scored a three-pointer to give the Grizzlies their first 86-85 lead. Memphis was never left behind again.

The Mavericks win again without Doncic

Deprived of their star Luka Doncic, the Dallas Mavericks once again managed to beat the Utah Jazz 126-118 and led 2-1 in the first round.

Doncic’s replacement, Jalen Branson, was again impressive with 31 points. He had 41 in the first victory of the Mavs in a row.

Spencer Dinwiddie supported him with 20 points, although he was limited to six successful shots in 21 attempts.

The Dallas substitutes stood out behind the arc of three points. Maxi Claber and Davis Bertans had four each, while Josh Green had three shots from downtown.

On the other hand, Donovan Mitchell scored 32 points, the best set of his team.

Game 4 of the series will be played on Saturday afternoon in Utah.
