The Charlotte Hornets fired coach James Borego on Friday after four seasons at the helm of the team.

This was reported by Adrian Wojnarowki from ESPN.

The Hornets have a record of 43 wins against 39 defeats this season. Although this is the first winning season under Borego, the Hornets failed to qualify for the playoffs for the fourth consecutive year. They finished 10th in the Eastern Region.

In the qualifying match between teams 9 and 10, the Hornets lost 132-103 to the Atlanta Hawks.

It was the second consecutive year that the Hornets lost in a qualifying game.

Hailing from Albuquerque, New Mexico, Borego had become the first Latin coach in NBA history. Previously, he served as interim coach of the Orlando Magic in 2015.

With the Hornets, Borego will finally have a record of 138-163.
