Giannis was substituted, he begged Griffin to stay in the game and his coach listened to him
Giannis Antetokounmpo wanted to continue the game like crazy with the Sixers after Adrian Griffin decided to take him off the field. He asked him to leave him on the field and his coach listened to him and immediately threw him into the game.
Giannis Antetokounmpo started the 2023/24 season with a double-double in the Bucks’ win over the Sixers (118-117) and was desperate to win in the season opener. And that could be seen in one phase of the third period.
With five minutes and 26 seconds left in the third quarter, Adrian Griffin decided to retire the “Greek Freak” and replace him with Pat Connaughton. Giannis went to the bench, spoke to him and asked him to stay on the floor, with his coach honoring his request but not making the change.
Finally, 45 (game) seconds later, Griffin made the switch, substituting Connaughton for Giannis with 4 minutes and 41 seconds left in the third period.
