The Milwaukee Bucks coach’s “I didn’t know” sparked controversy
A decision by Adrian Griffin sparked debate early in the second half of the Raptors-Bucks game, where he admitted there were misunderstandings with his teammates.
The Bucks’ image in Toronto was not good. Actually the first part was disappointing. The Milwaukee team lost the battle against the Raptors. Adrian Griffin watched the game unfold with concern and after the final showed the confusion that currently reigns in the organization.
With a new coach and a new staff, but also with a new point guard – one of the top 75 in the history of the league that everyone is trying to adapt to – the 2021 champions are trying to lay the foundation to unify the spectacle with the substance. It’s very up and down at the moment, with Griffin still raising questions about a decision in yesterday’s game in Toronto that showed a lack of communication.
Specifically, he left Chris Middleton on the bench at the start of the second half without the Bucks’ medical team and trainers informing him that he had “reached” his minutes limit. Middleton is on a minutes restriction following knee surgery, but he didn’t play as much in the first half of the game against the Raptors. Didn’t Griffin ask? He didn’t know what his player’s minutes were? Whatever happened, there was a misunderstanding and he admitted it himself.
“I thought Middleton’s night was over. When I found out he still had time, I put him in the match and switched to low format. That was all. Brook Lopez didn’t do anything wrong, I just thought Chris used up his minutes. Finally he had a few more and I gave them to himwas Griffin’s response to the Athletic’s Eric Name when asked why he didn’t take over as starting center until 90 seconds into the second half.
