Brown was dripping with honey for Vezenkov: “His limits are limitless, he came off the bench and gave us a boost.”
Mike Brown praised Sasha Vezhenkov after his outstanding performance against the Cavaliers, but didn’t put any limits on him, adding that the more he plays, the better he gets.
Sasha Vezhenkov was also involved in the Kings’ victory over the Cavaliers (132-120), scoring his best performance (11 points off the dribble) in the NBA and also experiencing his first “Light the Beam.” But the good news didn’t end there for Vezenkov, who then heard Mike Brown idolizing him at the press conference.
The Kings coach raved about the Bulgarian striker, his feel for the game on both sides and his style of work, stating that the sky is the limit!
Brown explained in detail:
“Sasha came off the bench and gave us a boost. He has tremendous feel for the game on both ends of the field. He made some big shots today. He could have made a fourth three-pointer, but the ball went in and ended up in one of his shots.
Having a player like him on the pitch gives everyone space. He makes teams think twice before making defensive rotations and switching to another player, giving everyone free shots just for being on the floor.
Aside from that, it does a lot of little things. In another phase he ran to the corner and hit a three-pointer. It was all because he was there running hard, beating the opposing defense and putting a defender in the difficult position of having to decide whether to stop the ball or charge at it.
It’s very small, it doesn’t show in the stats, but when you run that fast and get into that position – which is what we want because we like our players to go to the corners – good things happen to everyone, including you . So he did that and hit a three-pointer.
His rebounding ability because he’s big and strong is good for us too. The more he plays, the better he becomes for us, also defensively. He understands the angles. He is strong and can take a beating. He also works very hard and I think the sky is the limit for him. The more minutes he plays, the more he finds a rhythm.
