Durand: “I’m not going to force Irving to get vaccinated, it’s not my job”
Kevin Durand was asked again about the particular situation the Nets were experiencing with the unvaccinated Kyrie Irving and stated that no matter how much he wanted to play with him, he would not force him to get vaccinated.
Kevin Durand wants Kairy Irving to join the Nets and focus 100% on the team. However, he does not want to force him to get the coronavirus vaccine.
The Nets lost 109-121 to the Bucks in Brooklyn and – quite logically – after the game, the reporters brought up the topic again Kyrie Irving, who has no right to play in the home games, but made his debut this year in the Pacers a few days ago. Victory in Indiana (121-129). So, since everyone remembered – at least for one game – what the three-star Nets would have been like on the floor (Durand, Harden, and Irving), the Brooklyn star was asked if he’d spoken to his colleague about it. And his answer left no room for misinterpretation.
“I told him how important he is and how much I want him to play every game with us. “ Durand said first, adding: “I’m not going to force anyone to get vaccinated, that’s not my job. Are you telling him to do it to play basketball? “No, that won’t happen.”
The Nets star then added: “We had discussions about whether or not he should be part of the full time team, but that will happen if he wants. Whatever decision she makes, she will make it. We have to show professionalism, no matter what, and do our job. From the owner to the caretaker, so that he is always ready when he is ready “.
Durand was then asked if Irving had explained the reasons for his decision not to be vaccinated, to which he replied meaningfully: “I didn’t ask him, I didn’t ask him for an explanation. I have no right to do so. I am ready for anything that happens, that is my philosophy. Whatever happens, I stay myself, hit the ground and stand in for myself. I will do what my team needs.
The situation is strange. I don’t understand most of the coronavirus and there has been a madness over the past few years. So I’m just trying to focus on myself. “When Cairo is ready to make its decisions, it will and I trust him.”
