Los Angeles Clippers announced that they parted ways with the star point guard. Chris Paul.

Paul returned to the Clippers this summer for his final NBA season but was fired less than two months before the 2025-26 season.

Clippers President of Basketball Operations Lawrence Frank said in a statement: “We are parting ways with Chris Paul and he will no longer be with the team. We will help him take the next step in his career. Chris is a Clippers legend with a historic career. I want to make it clear that no one is blaming Chris for our poor performance. I take responsibility for the current result. There are many reasons why it has been difficult for us. We are grateful for Chris’ contributions to the franchise.”

Paul also responded to the news on social media:

“I just found out I was being sent home.”

This split comes as the Clippers sit 14th in the Western Conference with a 5-for-16 record.

Paul, 40, averaged 2.9 points, 1.8 rebounds and 3.3 assists per game in his first 15 games this season. He played his last game on Monday against the Miami Heat, where he had 8 points and 3 assists.

The 12-time All-Star and future Hall of Famer played for the Clippers from 2011-2017 before returning this season. Paul’s celebratory final season with the team has now come to a premature end as Los Angeles falls significantly short of expectations.
