There is cautious optimism in Denver. There are developments regarding Jokic’s return
Denver Nuggets Encouraging progress in recovery Nikola Jokic, ESPN’s Shems Charania reports.
The club is confident in the possibility of its star returning at the end of January:
“Nikola Jokic is rehabbing almost 24 hours a day, with workouts taking place every few hours. He’s strength training, doing cardio on a stationary bike, icing his knee, and is already shooting while standing on the court. The Nuggets won’t rush his return, as he’s still weeks away.”
A possible window for a return can be considered as the end of this month. “He still needs to regain his mobility (sprints, running and sudden changes of direction) and this will happen in the coming weeks.”
Jokic was injured in the game against the Miami Heat in late December with a score of 123:147. Although an MRI revealed no structural damage, the Serb suffered knee hyperextension and bone bruising. The Nuggets later announced that the center would be out for at least a month.
Jokic is averaging 29.6 points, 12.2 rebounds and 11.0 assists this season.
Shams: “Nikola Jokic is in rehab around the clock… I’m told he’s starting to shoot pinpoint shots on the court… you’re looking at the end of this month as a window (for a return)” pic.twitter.com/1aaPYVod3K
