A great success. Indiana coach made his name in NBA history
Indiana Pacers head coach Rick Carlisle He engraved his name in NBA history.
The 66-year-old coach joined the 1,000-win club after Indiana beat the Charlotte Hornets 114-112 on the road.
Carlisle earned its 999th win on Dec. 9, defeating Sacramento 116-105, but since then the Pacers have lost 13 in a row.
Carlisle became the 11th coach to achieve a four-digit win. This list also includes: Gregg Popovich, Don Nelson, Lenny Wilkens, Jerry Sloan, Pat Riley, George Karl, Doc Rivers, Phil Jackson, Larry Brown and Rick Adelman.
To reach the 1,000-win mark, Carlisle played 1,891 games: 555 with the Dallas Mavericks, 345 with the Pacers, and the remaining 100 with the Detroit Pistons.
Carlisle began his head coaching career in 2001, was named NBA Coach of the Year with the Pistons in 2002, and won an NBA championship with the Mavericks in 2011.
