Gonzaga canceled Stockton’s season ticket for not wearing a mask
One of the most embarrassing moments in its modern history was Gonzaga College, which stripped the legendary John Stockton of his season ticket because the Hall of Famer’s guard refused to wear a mask at home games.
John Stockton’s jersey hangs on Gonzaga’s seat, after which he began his career before moving on to the NBA and jazz. And that’s the closest thing he’ll remember now that the college was forced to remove the Hall of Famer guard’s season ticket because he refuses to wear a mask at the team’s home games.
The NBA legend – and the first passer and “thief” in league history – has long been known for standing with the anti-vaccination movement and supporting a conspiracy theory surrounding the coronavirus. But it’s ultimately his refusal to put on a mask that led Gonzaga to decide to cancel his ticket. In fact, Stockton broke the news in an interview.
“I’ve been a member of the program (Gonzaga’s) since I was 5-6 years old. I was born close to the college facilities and have been going to their competitions since childhood. Stockton initially said, adding: “Our relationship is going through a crisis, but it hasn’t broken. I am sure that we will find a solution to this conflict as well. They either had to ask me to wear a mask or cancel my ticket. “If the rules change, I’ll take it back.”
