Spolstra’s mistake of the year, calling for a timeout and not counting the Heat’s winner’s basket
Eric Spolstra took the heat for the win in the game against the Raptors after taking a time out just before the end of 2nd overtime, failing to count Gabe Vincent’s three-pointer with Miami finally losing the match in 3rd overtime.
The Heat suffered a 120-124 home loss to the Raptors after 3 overtimes. What made matters worse was that they were able to get the win after 2 overtimes. And the reason they didn’t succeed was Eric Spolstra.
The Miami coach made one of the mistakes of the year in the second overtime after, with the score at 114-114 and Gabe Vincent’s surprise, he decided to call a time-out with 1.7 seconds left in the final. But where was the bad? The Miami player then pulled off a three-pointer from 9 yards with a shot that would likely be the game winner. Only because of Spolstra’s timeout, it was like it never happened.
Miami finally attacked in the remaining time at the end of the second overtime, but Tyler Hiro’s shot found no target, allowing the Raptors to be calmer in the end and take the win.
