Carl-Anthony Towns scored 26 points and 11 rebounds to lead the Minnesota Timberwolves to a 119-99 victory over the Golden State Warriors, who played without Steph Curry and Dreymond Green’s night.

Jaylen Nowell scored 17 points and Malik Beasley 16 points, in a very productive night for the reserves. The Timberwolves dominated the last 16 minutes of the match 40-19.

Jordan Poole scored 20 points and Jonathan Kuminga scored 19 points for the Warriors. Golden State has now lost for the fifth time in seven games.

It was a measurement game for a Timberwolves team that made remarkable progress under coach Chris Finch, especially in defense.

Andrew Wiggins scored eight points in the third quarter to give the Warriors a spark and their first lead (64-62).

The crowd came to life when Anthony Edwards, who scored just nine points, ran from the bow to the basket for a dunk to restore the 81-80 lead to the Timberwolves who never looked back.

Klay Thompson has been playing his fourth game this season since returning from a nearly three-year hiatus. He scored 13 points in 23 minutes on the floor.

Green lost his fourth consecutive game with pain in his left calf and the Warriors announced that he would be out of action for at least two weeks before further evaluation.

On the positive side, Carrie avoided serious injury, feeling only pain after falling hard on his right arm on Friday. He returned home early for treatment and could return to action by Tuesday.
