CHICAGO – Lonzo Ball will lose six to eight weeks as he needs surgery on his left knee, the Chicago Bulls announced on Thursday.

Ball lost their last three games, losing to Boston and Memphis before a home win against the Cavaliers.

Acquired by the Pelicans in August, Ball was instrumental in helping the Bulls take first place in the East.

He averages 13 points, 5.4 rebounds and 5.1 assists per game. In addition, he ranks sixth in the NBA with 1.8 steals per game.

The Bulls (28-15) play in Milwaukee on Friday, starting a three-game road trip. They will also visit Orlando and Oklahoma City.

Zach LaVine is also troubled by his left knee, losing the last three Bulls games because of it. It is the second indicator of formation (24.9).

The Bulls will host the Raptors on January 26, before playing in Toronto on February 3.
